Welcome to ‘the creature’

‘the creature’ or ‘an créatúr’ as Gaeilge is devoted to creating an undefended open space of rest practices, and shared beauty.

Cathy French is a teacher, writer and dynamic modern guide of yoga nidra and the inherited magic of Ireland’s animist spiritual lineage.

She is a secondary school English teacher whose approach embraces a deep grá for poetry and the power of spoken word. She is a facilitator of profoundly nurturing group environments informed by core values of compassion, integrity, social, racial and earth justice.

Her work draws on Cathy’s sixteen years of experience designing and delivering classes, workshops, retreats and teacher trainings. She has led countless humans through grounding celtic wheel yoga nidra experiences both online and in person in Ireland and North America and most recently through ‘the creature’.

Cathy honours a heart-centred, paganic spirituality and the Catholic faith tradition of her ancestors. Her work is informed by cyclicality, ecological eros and queer Black feminist wisdom.

“We come to see that nature is weird. Queer. Promiscuous. And that is at once frightening, liberating and instructive.”
